It has already been an interesting year. After a few twists and turns, the coaching switch with Fox Chapel has been paused. Coach Todd has begun the new season at Upper St. Clair and Fox Chapel has welcomed back their long time coach.
Coach Todd and his USC Panthers have completed their warm-up meet where all the divers have resumed their success from last season and have already improved their performance over last year. The future looks bright!
There have been major coaching changes during the off-season. I have been hired by the Fox Chapel School District to lead their fabulous and highly successful Diving Team for this, the 2024-2025 season. It was a sad goodbye to my divers at St Clair and I look forward to seeing them all during the regular season; I know they are in good hands and will continue their winning ways under the new coach.
I look forward with optimism to my new adventure at Fox Chapel. FCHS has a history of diving success; Just last year, FCHS sent 5 divers to the WPIAL Championship:
Ainsley Anderson
Noelle Dick
Ellie Dering
Jackson Hagler
and Finn Kress
Jackson qualified for the State Championship and finished third in Pennsylvania.
It’s an exciting new adventure that begins in just a few weeks and it is my goal and expectation to continue the tradition of excellence as before.
After a successful High School season at Upper St Clair, we’ve opened up the club diving season for divers from 13-20 years old. Our lessons and practice are offered through PEAQ swimming club.

The current classes are scheduled 2 days a week on Tuesday and Thursdays, and one day per week on Fridays. The sign-up registration information is here.
Classes include all elements of diver training for 1 meter competition. Each day begins with dry-land warm-up and skills development: tumbling, footwork, twisting and flip progression. the USC facility has 2 diving boards, 1 meter in a private diving well with instant replay video.
Coach Todd and his USC Diving Team qualified all 6 members for the WPIAL 3a Divisional Championship by mid-season. The two Freshmen astonished the division by qualifying ahead of two upper class-men, just a few short weeks into the season. The other members of the squad included 2 sophomores, one junior and a senior. The Swim/Dive team won the section. Five of the six divers went on to the WPIAL Divisional Championship; one diver scratched due to injury. All divers finished in the top ten and one earned a spot on the podium. A job well done!
For this dive season, I’ve accepted the Head Coaching Position for Diving at Upper St. Clair High School. Training has begun and the future looks promising for my 6 amazing divers. We have lofty goals for the season and we’re beginning the work to make it all happen!
I’m pleased to announce that I will begin leading the Pittsburgh Diving Club as the new Head Diving Coach beginning this Fall session, 2021. I began my own diving career in this club, so returning to Joe C. Trees Pool as the new Head Club Coach is indeed an honor.
Working under the direction of the Pitt Head Diving Coach Katie Kasprzak, we have assembled a modest 3 day schedule as a warm up to resuming full time operations. The schedule encompasses the full range of classes from beginner to Competition Team; we have added adult (masters) diving as well.
Team divers will register for either 4x or 2x a week. Due to coaching limitations if you choose 2x a week you can only participate in the Wednesday and Saturday Session 1 practices.
Divers in the team group will be preparing lists on all 3 levels (1m, 3m and platforms) in preparation for AAU & USA Diving Level competitions. All team members must have fully mastered forward, inward, back and reverse rotating dives.
